The Microsoft Military Datacenter Pathway is a 10 to 12-week virtual program designed specifically for transitioning active-duty service members. This immersive fellowship equips you with the skills to thrive as a Critical Environment Technician, Datacenter Technician, or Datacenter Inventory and Asset Technician at Microsoft—paving the way for a future in one of the most in-demand career paths.

Critical Environment Technician
As a Critical Environment Technician (CET), your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and reliability of the facility’s physical infrastructure. You’ll maintain equipment, monitor environmental conditions, and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Using various tools, you’ll help keep everything running smoothly. Your work is essential for maintaining the environmental stability of Microsoft’s data centers, which power the cloud services relied upon by millions of people every day.
Datacenter Technician
As a Datacenter Technician (DCT), you’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting the equipment and systems in a data center. You’ll monitor servers and hardware to ensure everything runs smoothly, and if any issues arise, you’ll troubleshoot them to keep operations on track. Regular maintenance checks and installing new equipment will also be part of your routine, along with overseeing site services to ensure everything performs optimally. Your role is essential for making sure the data center operates efficiently and reliably.
Datacenter Inventory and Asset Technician
As a Datacenter Inventory and Asset Technician (DIAT), you’ll manage the lifecycle of critical equipment and assets within Microsoft’s data centers. From tracking inventory to ensuring the proper allocation of resources, your role ensures that the infrastructure behind cloud services runs smoothly. This hands-on position is key to maintaining the efficiency and organization of Microsoft’s data center operations.

-OSHA 10 Training and certification
-NFPA 70-e Training and certification
-Hands-on experience—all-expense paid trip to experience working on decommissioned equipment
-Small group mentorship—from veterans currently working in our datacenters
Eligibility and time commitment
The Microsoft Military Datacenter Pathway requires 10 to 12 weeks of full-time virtual engagement.
To be considered, applicants must be transitioning service members who are approved to participate in a SkillBridge program, and have applied to Hiring our Heroes.
